Pagoda Birdcages

I was looking for something completely different and stumbled upon this beautiful Reproduction Vintage Chinese Bamboo Birdcage.

It is made from bamboo. It is rather small, only 11 ½” wide x 8 ½” high and 12 ½” to the hook.

It is meant to be used. It includes porcelain seed and water bowls.

I used to raise finches, but I had them in a very large flight cage.

The ad says; “If you don’t have time to take care of the elderly, raise a bird to let the old man relax and drive away loneliness. This bird cage is the best choice for your gift.”

It’s beautiful, but I think one of these would be a more practical cage.

They all have ½” wire spacing.

This is a budgie in the smallest cage. When I was a little girl, I had two budgies in a cage not much larger than this. It seems small to me. But then I let them out to fly as soon as I came home from school. (Did you know you can teach parakeets to talk?)

They are made of stainless steel and have porcelain food and water cups.

It has a nice wide door.

The top has the same motif you see on the lanterns in Chinese restaurants.

There are cherry blossom panels around the bottom.

There is grid over the bottom, so the bird won’t fly away while you clean the cage. The grid is removable, too, to make it easier to clean. (Put the cage on the floor or a table, first.)

These are decorative, but could really be used.

These metal birdcages from Deco 79 are not really for birds.

They come as a set, one 21” high, the other 18” high. They are not expensive at all and have a really nice pagoda shape to them. They are rated to be used indoors or out.

If you want one that is just ornamental, this small one from Waterford Holiday Heirlooms is beautiful. It is only 3” wide x 3” high.
