Modern Fan’s IC/Air3 fan by Guto Indio da Costa Cools a Coastal Sleeping Porch
The article Havens l Seaside Design in Coastal Living’s June 2017 issue shares designer Janie Molster’s secrets for outfitting a porch.
“The key to keeping them beautiful year-round, says designer Janie Molster, is using materials that stand up to salt air.”
She lists ten points and her second point is “Balmy days need good breezes. Even on the water, fans are porch essentials for good air circulation. Choose damp- or wet-rated ceiling fans in hues that blend with the architecture…”
The photo looks like it might be the new IC/Air3 Ceiling Fan, designed by Guto Indio da Costa for The Modern Fan Company.
The 56″ wide IC/Air3 Ceiling Fan was designed by Guto Indio Da Costa. It has a streamlined, innovative design. The IC/Air3 has three blades. There is also a two blade version, the IC/Air2. Both offer superior performance and energy efficiency with a high-efficiency DC motor. Both ship with 8″ and 18″ down rods.
The slender blades are constructed from injection model plastic in Nickel, Dark, White, Clear, Ebony, Graywash, Mahogany, Maple, or Whitewash finish. The body is made from die-cast aluminum finished in Bright Nickel, Dark Bronze or Gloss White.
There is a 20W LED light available. It uses a single 20W 120V LED module, 3000K, 90 CRI, which ships with the fan. There is no pull chain or any other control on the fan itself. There are three control options; Wall, Remote, or Combination Wall/Remote control.
- Wall Control: Designed for independent operation of a fan and light using only one circuit (two wires). Provides six speeds, full range dimming, reverse function, and wires into wall box.
- Remote Control: Designed for independent operation of a fan and light using only one circuit (two wires). Provides six speeds, full range dimming, reverse function, and comes with a wall hanging bracket.
- Combo Control: A combination control package including the IC/Air Remote and Wall Control. Provides six speeds, full range dimming, and reverse function from both the wall control and remote handset.
If it’s not the new IC/Air3 Ceiling Fan, I don’t know what fan it is. The magazine says it is from Modern Fan in two places. Really, though, any fan from The Modern Fan Company is a great choice! Most are rated for damp or wet location, ideal for porch use. Make sure though, before you order the fan for a location that gets direct or indirect water. There is not much sadder than a pitiful drooping fan that should not be on a porch.
