Blue Willow Cutting Boards, Serving Boards and Hot Plates

I bought a cutting board on eBay and when it came in, it was actually a hot plate. It had laminated paper over cork. If you used it to cut, you would ruin it.

So, I am still looking for a blue willow cutting board.

I don’t really cut on my glass cutting board. It sits next to the stove as a place to put hot things. I also lay my spoon or turner there. It is easy to carry it to the sink to keep it clean.

I made the mistake of running it through the dishwasher. I don’t know what I was thinking. The laminated design on the back of the glass came off and so did the little feet. I put it back together, but that is why I am looking for a new one.

I use a wood cutting board for actual cutting, so I won’t dull my knives. But I rest the wood cutting board on the glass one.

Tempered glass is super hard. It will dull your knife, but it will protect the counter by the stove from heat and marks.

This was also called a cutting board. I think the surface of the ceramic center would get messed up. But, it makes a great hot plate or serving plate.

Blue Willow Hot Plates

If you are going to search for a Blue Willow Hot Plate on eBay, people call them all kinds of things like hot mat, hot pads, trivets… But, eBay is smart. They will usually show you the synonyms in your search results.

This was on eBay as a Melamine cutting board. I have never really heard of a melamine cutting board. Plastic is good. It cleans easy (even in the dishwasher) and it won’t dull knives. Melamine scratches. I think it would probably dull knives.

You can serve hot food on melamine, so I am guessing this is actually a hot plate.

This is a tile with the Blue Willow pattern. It has little feet on it. It is 8″ square. Not a cutting board, but a great hot plate or trivet. (Did you know that original trivet meant it had 3 feet? That makes this a fourvet.)

You can find a lot of Blue Willow Tiles on eBay. Just stick some little rubber feet on it and there you are!
